I'm glad I didn't read the other reviews before I went here to eat. I can't imagine why the rating is so far down the list. Cactus Jack's is spotlessly clean. The service is spot on, friendly and fast. Prices and portions are very decent. One of few restaurants I've been to that show very little room for improvement. I had (what else?) beef and chicken fajitas and my wife had shrimp fajitas. Both meals were as good as fajitas will ever get. These are the dinners I have when I dream about fajitas at night. I'm giving them a five only because I can't give a ten.

I've eaten here three times all have been for lunch. The food isn't bad the prices are not low to say the least. I had burritos each time I have been here the people I times with had tacos, fajitas and enchiladas. We swapped a few bites of each. The enchiladas weren't so great, the fajitas meat was a bit tough and sure didn't taste like skirt steak. The tacos seemed to have been made with bag O' meat products. I had the chicken burrito and it was pretty good for Arkansasmexican food. I came from Texas so I'm struggling to find decent food in Little Rock.

I would say terrible service but we in fact never received service after 20 minutes. Pretty poor operators.

First time visit. The food was very good. The top shelf margarita was very tasty. I would definitely recommend. The food came out very fast. We spilled a drink at the table, and they cleaned it up very fast. The service was really good. Our server asked questions when he didn't understand the order. My recommendation is top shelf margarita with anejo tres generations tequila. Enjoy!

Not happy. How do you mess up a steak quesadilla? They destroyed this thing. I've never tasted anything so wrong in my life. There was absolutely no cheese. No peppers. No onions. It was a quesadilla stuffed with "steakish" meat in brown gravy. Like Alpo, almost. It was also the size of what you would imagine was a child's portion. My husband ordered a shrimp cocktail because he was so afraid to try their food after witnessing my disaster of a quesadilla. It wasn't half bad. Honestly though, I was expecting them to mess that up too. Chips were hot, fresh and the salsa was actually pretty darn good. The guacamole was definitely either store bought or refrigerated and was missing the things that make guacamole good; onions, lemon juice and tomatoes. After having great Mexican food in Laredo and San Antonio, I expect at least decent Tex-Mex now and that is not what we received. I won't be back.

I eat here often because my friend really liked the chicken fajita nachos, but honestly I don't really care for this place. The environment isn't bad and the tables are clean. Salsa tastes home made but is a little bland for my taste. Food usually comes out extremely fast, and you understand why when you taste the quality of the food. Don't bother ordering anything with steak on it. They serve a very cheap cut of meat. Almost every time we visit we see all of the servers hanging out at the bar or register and speaking vulgarly in Spanish. Very unprofessional. Our servers are usually polite to us at our table, but more times than not it seems as if they're hitting on my friend and I. A few times its become almost uncomfortable. Again, I don't care for the place but something about it keeps bringing my friend back. Prices are reasonable. They offer military discount!

I don't like the food here at all. I think it's getting worse. I hadn't been here in a while and decided to give it another try. Very disappointed I won't ever be back! The chicken and steak tacos they just ruin with the tiny strips of meat they have they are so thin it's like cardboard and gross. I don't know why so many restaurants are doing this but it's horrible. The fajitas are the same way just tiny slivers of meat.

I lived in Arizona for 11 years and now Texas for 6 (so I have eaten a lot of Mexican food) and I love this place!!! The food is cheap and so tasty. My husband and I came up to Little Rock for his military training and once we discovered Cactus Jack's we ate there every night... 8 nights straight. We couldn't bring ourselves to go anywhere else.

The experience was pretty average (but by no means bad) - common Mexican food options, common decor, common prices. My husband and I both tried the Pollo Asado lunch special, which includes a grilled chicken breast, covered in cheese, with sides of rice, beans, and the normal toppings (lettuce, sour cream, pico, guac, and a side of tortillas.) The pricing was good ($6.99 per meal) and service was consistent. No complaints!

Extremely unprofessional. Solid house margaritas, although they were 8.50 each. Food came out extremely fast! Poor quality meat for steak fajitas. Thin slices of top round does not warrant the premium price (see picture). The servers in the dining area were talking trash about the patrons in Mexican all night. Cabron this, pinche that. It made me wonder what they did to my food in the back. Sorry, but it's not that exclusive of a language. I know what you were saying and I didn't appreciate it. Keep that crap talk back in the dishwashing area. On the good side, the hotter sauce that you can ask for is plenty flavorful and hot (see picture). If you want quantity over quality at a premium price, be my guest.

Beans were bland, steak was bland, runny cheese. My son wouldn't eat his chicken fingers because he said they weren't good. Don't go here.

Ate lunch here and didn't care for it at all. Bland, almost tasteless food. Service was OK, but consider somewhere else if you're in the mood for Tex-Mex. But don't just trust my opinion. Go and see for yourself.

Good service. I was expecting better Mexican food. The combo i ordered came out quickly. Unfortunately the ground beef did not have any flavor.

Had a great time here tonight. Service was good, place looks great. Liked the salsa, but a little weak, but then again I love hot. Food was great, had one of my favorites, chili Colorado. Nice spice and flavor to it, would recommend this anytime.

Had lunch here today. Very reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere; modern Mexican flair. Good selection of beers an liquors. Food had a great taste and was not overpowered by 'hot' spices. Would recommed this foe lunch or dinner.

You can not beat this place for lunch. Fast seating and complementary salsa and chips. Lunch menu is ok, and the food is hot and fast. You can get in and out of here in under 20 minutes. The best thing is that it is good food and you can not beat the price. We frequent here for lunch. Group seating and service is great as well.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
